I've been developing on Linux since 1998, 28 years now, and on a lot of other platforms besides. Mostly embedded.

That's meant full protocol stacks down to the media access layer (power line, wireless, Ethernet), early smart-grid metering and control on microcontrollers, industrial machine monitoring for predictive maintenance, and more Linux driver and BSP work than I can remember.

I've been at Au-Zone Technologies since 2011 and VP of R&D since 2019. The work now is spatial perception at the edge: detecting and localizing things and stuff on devices that usually draw under 10 watts. Computer vision is the core of it, fused with lidar and radar in various combinations. Sensor fusion and the radar cube have been especially fun and interesting. It's quite unique to work on something with so little information to look up online!

This blog is new. I've been presenting my work at conferences like the Embedded Vision Summit for a while now, and figured I could write about the fun tech stuff here too: programming, optimization, computer vision, and spatial perception.
